MIKE BLISS STEERS PHILLIPSCHEVY.COM / KEY MOTORSPORTS NO. 40 THROUGH LATE RACE MELEE TO EARN TOP-20 RESULT
Starting from the 31st position in Friday night's Dollar General 300 powered by
Coca-Cola NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Chicagoland Speedway, driver Mike Bliss made immediate progress at the drop of the green flag with the PhillipsChevy.com/Key
Motorsports entry posted in the top-20 by lap 10 of the originally scheduled 200-lap event, extended to 203 laps after a caution on lap 196 would dictate a green-white-checker finish. With the exception of a brief period as the field cycled through the first round of pit stops near the lap 50 mark, car number 40 maintained a spot in the top-20
throughout the evening.

With the team's sights set on a top-10 finish, Bliss lined up 16th for the final restart on lap 201, just behind a contingent of cars that would create the "big-one" while battling to the white flag one lap later. Making unavoidable contact with out of control competitors, the PhillipsChevy.com/Key
Motorsports machine escaped with damage to the right front fender area, allowing Bliss to continue around the 1.5-mile superspeedway and cross the finish line 18th, on the lead lap.
"We were making a run when everything broke loose," explained Bliss. "Its one of
those racing deals, right there at the end and everyone is trying hard. Our Key Motorsports Chevrolet ran good all night, it was a better car than where we
finished."
Key Motorsports crew chief Gary Showalter felt the team could have accomplished a top-10 finish at Chicagoland had it not been for the multi-car crash that unfolded in front of Bliss.

"We were able to keep our nose clean all day, until right there at the end," Showalter said. "It didn't do any major damage to the car, so we're ok. The team did a great job at Chicagoland and we will try again at Gateway next week."
Team owner Curtis Key added, "We want to thank PhillipsChevy.com for their support at Chicagoland. They are a class organization and ask race fans to consider them when making a car-buying decision. They are great to work with."
