Westerman Companies Chevrolet Avoids Carnage To Record Top-25 Finish In Meijer 300 At Kentucky Speedway

Jeff Green's third start of the season in the Westerman Companies/Key Motorsports Chevrolet came Saturday night in the Meijer 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Kentucky Speedway, with the Owensboro native staying in the hunt by taking the #40 safely through several near-disasters that got the best of several competitors, resulting in a race long lead-lap effort that produced another top-20 finish for the Curtis Key organization.

Primary sponsor Westerman Companies enjoyed major representation at Kentucky Speedway over the weekend as the US based industrial manufacturer entertained a number of guests while the Key Motorsports driver and crew donned new uniforms featuring the familiar green, white and red colors of their long time supporters. Driver and crew spent quality time trackside with company executives, employees and clientele as well as fans at a "down-home" meet and greet at associate sponsor Microtel Inn & Suites Florence location Saturday morning.

Participating in both Friday evening practice sessions, Green and company completed nine laps in opening practice before making changes that would be tested during their 22-lap excursion in Happy Hour. The #40 Westerman Companies Chevrolet posted the 29th fastest lap of the 42 on track cars during the final session.

The 2000 Nationwide Series champion began the 200-lap crash-fest from the 34th starting position, quickly moving the Westerman Companies Chevrolet to 18th by lap 30, continuing a forward march despite madness and mayhem that would distribute debris all about the racing surface, to a race high 14th by lap 140. Cycling through pit stops, maintaining lead lap status all the while, the Key Motorsports prepared entry was scored 20th at the drop of the checkered flag.

Saturday's 20th place effort provided the needed points to move up in 2010 NASCAR Nationwide owner points, Key Motorsports leaves Kentucky 22nd in the standings, 20 points out of the top-20.

Mike Bliss is scheduled to return to the seat of the #40 for the Nationwide Series next event at Road America, Saturday, June 19, 2010. Team owner Curtis Key continues his search for a partner to join Bliss and the #40 team for the Nationwide Series debut at the legendary race course in Wisconsin next weekend.

A solid program with a guaranteed starting spot coupled with a self-made owner could result in a bargain opportunity for the CEO interested in moving their brand in a forward direction.
