Key Motorsports Continues Sponsorship Search

Key Motorsports is continuing its effort to locate a marketing partner following a successful NASCAR Nationwide Series campaign in 2009. The #40 Chevrolet finished 21st in owner points after beginning the season without any points or provisionals. The Key Motorsports team plans to run the full 35 race Nationwide Series schedule in 2010.

"We continue to search for a marketing partner for the 2010 season," Key Motorsports team owner Curtis Key said from his office today. "We have had some interest but don't have anything signed with anyone at this time. We are planning to race the full schedule this year and need sponsorship to do it properly. We are here to race and are not interested in being a start and park operation."

The lack of a signed sponsor has not slowed activity at the Key Motorsports shop, with team members busily preparing cars for next season. "The Key Motorsports team is working hard for 2010," said Key. "Our Daytona cars are almost ready and we are in the process of preparing cars for California and Las Vegas as well. The Key Motorsports shop in Mooresville, North Carolina is a very busy place right now." While Scott Wimmer, Mike Bliss, Aric Almirola and Jeffrey Earnhardt shared driving duties in the #40 during 2009, Key Motorsports has not made any driver announcement for 2010. Long time NASCAR crew chief Gary Showalter remains with the organization and will call the shots from the pit box again in 2010.

"This Key Motorsports team is great to work with," Showalter said. "Everyone here is working together to move this team forward, we have come a long way after pretty much starting from scratch last January and I am excited about this season."

Key Motorsports fielded NASCAR Truck Series entries from 2004 through May 2009 after participating in the Nationwide Series for several years prior. Key Motorsports completed more than 7772 miles in NASCAR competition during 2009 and has made a total of 158 NASCAR Nationwide and Truck Series starts since it's first NASCAR Busch Series start in 1993.
