CHAFFIN SECURES A RESPECTABLE FINISH FOR TRUCK FINALE
AT HOMESTEAD MIAMI SPEEDWAY
MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (November 17, 2008) – Tennessee native Chad Chaffin was tapped by team owner, Curtis Key, to pilot the #40 Key Motorsports
Westerman Chevrolet at Homestead-Miami Speedway for the Ford 200 finale on Friday, November 14th in an exhilarating Championship race under the lights.
During qualifying earlier on Friday night, Chaffin piloted the truck around the 1.5 mile speedway in a respectable 29th starting position. With an undeniably solid run going midway through the race, Chaffin fell victim to a flat tire. “We had a very competitive truck and then we cut tire under the green flag,”
stated Crew Chief Lance Hooper, “the team kept digging hard to get a quality finish for Key Motorsports, which we did accomplish”.
“We ran a competitive truck all night, and I felt good about it. I was trying to give 120% and I over drove the truck, scraping the wall and cut the tire,” lamented an apologetic Chaffin, “I made an attempt to run competitive even after the accident, but ran out of laps”.
The truck sustained minor body damage during the incident, however, the 28th place finish solidified Key Motorsports’ 26th in the owner’s standings.
“We have had some great drivers in our trucks this year—Mike Bliss, Jeff Green,
Paul Poulter, and Chad Chaffin,” stated team owner, Curtis Key, “our motorsports program has greatly improved. We are looking forward to next year with optimism”.
