KEY MOTORSPORTS AND JEFF GREEN’S
NATIONWIDE HOPES DASHED AT LOWE’S
Steven Wallace triggers multi-car accident
MOORESVILLE, NC (October 14, 2008) - The Key Motorsports team headed into Lowes Motors Speedway for the Dollar General 300 on Friday night with high expectations and optimistic attitudes. Those hopes were dashed on Lap 127 when Steven Wallace tapped the #31 Key Motorsports race car and sent Jeff Green
partially airborne and sparking down the front straightway along the start finish line. The roof flaps deployed, keeping the car down, and luckily, Jeff exited the
car, unhurt.
Overall, it was a heartbreaking night for the Key Motorsports team. They had a respectable qualifying effort with 21st place in the event, and [Jeff] Green was working his way through the field on Lap 6 when he was sent spinning through the infield by Mike Bliss as the result of a cut tire. Crew Chief Lance Hooper
said, “we were having a good run, it’s a shame we hit something out there to cut the tire down”.
With the tenacity and determination that made him a Busch Champion, [Jeff] Green returned to the field only to be slowed by a mid-race rain delay. After the track dried off, [Jeff] Green returned to the Key Motorsports machine to 33rd in the field—climbing to 28th, when the unfortunate event with Steven Wallace occurred, securing a 35th place finishing spot. Team owner Curtis Key said, “we had a good car, a respectable qualifying effort, and it’s unfortunate that we got involved in an accident.”
Undeterred, the Key Motorsports team and Jeff Green will be forging ahead this weekend at the Kroger 200 in Martinsville, VA with the #40 Westerman sponsored Chevrolet Truck.
